Unchabali Iron Ore Mines lease area is depicted in Survey of India topo Sheet No. 73 G/5 and bounded by latitude 210 52 41 North and longitude 850 26 01 East. The lease area is spread over in villages of Unchabali and Balda in Keonjhar district of Orissa State. The mining lease is 106.1127 Ha. out of the M. L area of 106.1127 Ha. 103.342 Ha falls under D.L.C. area within Champua Range, Barbil- Tahasil, Dist-Keonjhar and the remaining 2.6807 Ha is non forest area.
This area is approachable from rail head is located at Jurudi at a distance of about 12 KMs and the nearest railway station is Barbil.
The lease area displays an undulated topography with a prominent hillock in the eastern side. Altitudes of this mine varies between 530m RL (lowest) in the northern portion of the lease to 720m RL (highest) in the central portion of the lease at the hill top of Mahaparvat. Mahaparvat hill is the prominent geomorphic unit in the south-eastern portion of the area. The gradient of the lease varies from 1:0.8 to 1:36.
